The University Library of Padua is a state public library under the Ministry of Culture (MiC).
It is a conservation and reading library and performs the duties and functions established by the Regulations for State Public Libraries.
Established in 1629 by the Venetian Republic as a "decorum" and "greater ornament" to the University of Padua, it is the oldest of Italy's university libraries.
